What is scheduled to move these markets
Rate decisions and data releases for the instruments we quote, taken from each institution’s own published schedule. No forecasts and no consensus numbers — the date and the time are the part that is useful, and the source is linked beside every entry.

Calendar runs to December 2027. Times are the announcement time in UTC and are the institutions’ own; they occasionally move them, and the linked schedule is always the authority.
How to read a calendar without being led by it
A calendar tells you when uncertainty is scheduled. It does not tell you which way the price will go, and the way these pages are usually presented — a forecast, a previous value, an impact rating in red — quietly suggests otherwise.
What actually moves a price is the gap between the number and what was already expected, and the expectation is in the price before the release. This is why a strong figure can be followed by a fall: strong was already assumed, and the market had positioned for stronger.
The reliable use of a calendar is therefore defensive. It tells you when spreads will widen, when a stop is most likely to be filled somewhere other than where you put it, and when a position that has been quiet for a week is about to stop being quiet.
Our own hourly technical readings sit alongside this on the signals page, and the week of history behind them shows what those indicators did through the last set of releases.
Common questions
- Which releases actually move the market?
- For the instruments on this site: the Federal Reserve above all, because it prices the dollar and the dollar is one side of every pair here; then US inflation and payrolls, which move expectations of what the Fed will do; then each pair’s own central bank.
- Why are there no forecast numbers?
- Two reasons. The consensus figure is a survey somebody else compiles and sells, and printing an expected number next to a technical signal starts to look like a prediction rather than a schedule. What we can state as fact is when the release happens.
- What time are these in my time zone?
- Times are UTC. London is UTC+0 or +1 depending on the season, New York is UTC−5 or −4, and most US data lands at 12:30 UTC — half past eight in the morning in New York, and half past one in the afternoon in London.
- Why does the Bank of Japan have no time?
- It publishes when the meeting ends rather than at a fixed minute, usually late morning in Tokyo. The delay is itself read as a signal, so the yen often moves before the statement appears.
- What happens to spreads around a release?
- They widen, sometimes considerably, in the seconds either side. Orders can fill some distance from the price you clicked, and a stop can be filled past its level. This is normal market behaviour at those moments rather than a fault.
- Should I trade the news?
- It is the hardest condition to trade and the most expensive to get wrong, which is the opposite of how it is usually sold. Many experienced traders reduce size or stand aside around the releases on this page. Nothing here is a recommendation either way.
