Agricultural commodities as CFDs

What is Agricultural Commodities Trading?

Agricultural commodities are the grains (wheat, corn, soybeans), softs (coffee, sugar, cocoa, cotton) and livestock that trade on futures exchanges around the world. A CFD lets you trade their prices from a MetaTrader 5 account, long or short, without a futures account or physical delivery. What makes these markets different from currencies and indices is what moves them: planting and harvest cycles, weather in a handful of growing regions, government stock reports, and export demand. Those drivers are largely independent of interest rates and equity sentiment, which is why agricultural positions behave differently from the rest of a trading account — and why the seasonal patterns that repeat every year are a starting point rather than an afterthought. Ultimo does not list agricultural CFDs today — we carry energy and metals in the commodity family. If you want grains or softs, tell us: new instruments are prioritised by what clients ask for, and everything we do carry is on the contract specifications page.

A market that does not follow the dollar

When every currency pair and index is trading the same central-bank headline, a wheat or coffee position is responding to a harvest forecast instead. Diversification means holding things that move for different reasons.

Seasonality you can plan around

Planting, growing and harvest seasons recur every year, and so do the reports that price them. A trader who knows when the crop-report calendar falls has a schedule most markets do not offer.

Long or short, either way

Expect a bumper crop? Sell. Expect a drought? Buy. In CFD form a falling harvest price is as tradeable as a rising one, without a futures account or a delivery date to roll.
